Congratulations 2012 Runners! Let's conquer 2013!

Photo from ConduraSkywayMarathon

Everyone did a great job this 2012,  From the start and the end of this year we have many achievements and renewed ourselves, one of the best we had, having a new lifestyle and passion, it is running. Come and join us, let us recall all of the unforgettable memories or experiences since become one of the running enthusiasts in the whole year of 2012. Do you still remember the first running event you've joined this 2012? Your first distance? When was your first that you encountered your first cramps? How about the worst event? Before I forget, how about the shoes you've purchased this year? How many pairs? Each of us has their own stories to be shared in the said questions when it comes to different events we've treasured a lot and events that we are not satisfied.

Takbong Pinoy highlighted the year 2012 because this year running community is more aggressive in different running events and many new runners had time to participate various running events, in fact race event scheduled weekly. There were also new running groups built to support the community none other than running community. Because of the group we had the courage and hope that it's not too late to enter the world of running not because we want to strong and agile running but we run for our healthy lifestyle.
You run because there's a purpose, some of them they run for the additional points in school. :D How about you? You started to run just for fun, for the experience but as time goes by once you meet other running enthusiasts though they are not an elite runner you will encourage to become a serious runner. If at first we are just aiming to finish and cross the finish line, when you see the changes and dedication of your fellow runners you will make a way to do what they are doing to be one of them, not literally the same but still you know what he can do. Aside from finishing the race, running enthusiasts also want to have a good personal time and in every event's goal is to beat their previous record - it's exciting because your best competitor in a race is ourselves, let's keep running.

Nowadays with the help of different organizations they offer free clinic and training to make our runners are knowledgeable in various aspects of running, also had the opportunity to interact with the professional runners, coaches, multi sport enthusiasts to share their experiences, techniques on how they can prevent injuries, to become an effective runner inside and outside of the track. "Let's thank them for guiding us". A great help to the runner and also to their fellow runners where they share their learning. Included for being a serious runner, we also had an interest to join an event with finishers medal, all of us are very particular in this reward - a concrete proof that we conquered the event and one of the best remembrance of all your efforts. Apart from the medals, singlets, etc., we inclined also in different running shoes of various brands to make our running passion injury free. The amazing part in running that I really admire those old fun runners, became serious runners and was most recently became marathoner or more for almost a year - dedication, hope, strength plus GOD, they were able to level up and challenge their capability to run twenty kilometers up barefoot or not, you are all great!

Congratulations to all who crossed and finished the race in all races this 2012! Let's thank 2012 and welcome this new year of fun and journey. Conquer 2013! Make FILIPINO RUNNING COMMUNITY bigger, enjoyable and be proud of.

Running Venues this 2012

Sharing of the frequent venues this 2012, where event held most and you've been there not only one or twice but several times. For you, what location of the running event you love most? Why? This post is intended to give a summary of different locations where most of the running enthusiasts ran.

The first event location is the Bonifacio Global City.

Bonifacio Global City is very particular and popular for everyone especially for the runners who been here for the big race events. How many times you've been there just to attend running events? This is a great place to run, though many high-rise buildings to see, you still feel the fresh air in the area and there are still part with trees. When it comes to accessibility, pretty accessible because there are shuttle buses located in Ayala Edsa where the only route is going straight to Bonifacio Global City or the more easy to ride thereon, cab. And after the event you can drop by also in different sports outlet located around the area.

Some of the events held in the BGC:
- Adidas King of the Road
- PSE Bull Run 2012

The next event area where very much accessible and where one of the biggest malls in Asia located in Pasay City, the SM Mall of Asia.

SM Mall of Asia is one of the well-known event locations in the running events because of the extent and size of the area that can unleash thousand of runners. One of the most awaited race held this year are 36th National Marathon, RUN UNITED and for the biggest advocacy run held in this area the Kahit Isang Araw Lang. When it comes to route, if the races had a long distance 21k up they extend in Makati City, Bonifacio Global City and along Roxas Blvd., where you can see the scenic view of Manila Bay. And after race there's a mall or place that you can rest or  you can go shopping.

If you are looking for a very challenging route and a terrible uphill/ downhill road located within Metropolitan, you can try with your self try to join upcoming races held in McKinley Hill Taguig City.

Photo from thefortinvestments.wordpress.com

Though the route is very much interesting but the accessibility to reach this area unlike the previous locations that can easy to go. If you are coming from Edsa the best ride you can choose is a cab or a jeepney from Guadalupe or FTI. This will be one of the organizer's choices when they are organizing a vertical run - I remember one of vertical run held in this area is the Discovery Vertical Run, I don't think if you can beat your personal record once you tried to run this route, but we always said everything is possible once we have a dedication and courage we will survive - Do you believe that the real competitor in races is ourselves?

And the last event location that I want to share is the UP Diliman in Quezon City where you will be closer to our nature.

UP Diliman from paraisophilippines.com
I also tried once to run in the heart of Quezon City, known because it placed one of the major roads of the Philippines, Commonwealth Avenue. You will enjoy running inside the campus because of the large trees surrounding the entire area, and the  best part where most of the runners run is in Sunken Garden - I think one round is equivalent to 4.4k, that was big and if you can do it ten times you can be a marathoner.

Here's the short summary of the running venues this 2012. This was chosen only by the owner of this blog. You are free to share your thoughts and best location where you run.

2 Hearts to Beat - October 14, 2012 - Cebu I.T. Park

We are organizing a RUN dubbed as "2 Hearts to Beat - One Run, Two Lives", or simply called ‘2H2B’, to be held on October 14, 2012 at Cebu I.T. Park at 5am. 2H2B is an event organized by a group of volunteers inspired to help raise funds for the open heart surgery of Baby Gabrielle and the post-op expenses of Baby Maven.

Baby Maven, the 10-month old child of Kristoffer Dominic and Hannah Almira Amora, and baby Gabrielle, the 11-month old child of Michael Pacaña and Joann Pearl Pacaña, are both suffering from Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), a congenital heart defect which is classically understood to involve four anatomical abnormalities (although only three of them are always present). It is the most common cyanotic heart defect, and the most common cause of blue baby syndrome. Baby Maven has already undergone the total correction through open heart surgery in Manila and that cost around P800,000 to P1M while Baby Gabrielle is still set hopefully once we have finished with the RUN.

The main objective of 2 Hearts to Beat (2H2B) RUN is to help raise funds for the said open heart surgeries and post-op that these little warriors will undergo. The event also aims to raise awareness of congenital heart diseases of young infants that most of these defects are treatable given the proper care and funds. Timing is critical and parents with babies that have been diagnosed with TOF congenital heart defects are advised to have total correction within 6 months to 1 year of life. Research shows that early complete TOF repairs have low mortality rate with less complications.

The 2H2B RUN is moving with the plan and we would want you to be part of it by informing the public of the event and our cause. Your help will surely help us a long, long way for these babies.

Also to all the participants who participated who crossed the finish line.

God Bless us.

Athletes In Action-Schools Run for School Rooms

Air Force 65th Anniversary Run

In celebration of Air Force 65th Anniversary Run, they organized a first fun run event that are open to civilians. This fun run is for the direct dependents of our brave men who was killed in action, hurt and incapability to go back in the field. In return of your support and help they took a lot of surprises and challenges on this event. The race route I already saw because when I participated the Discovery Channel it's a big challenge to run on a uphill road. So, another challenge was produced by Air Force for us. If you are interested to join this event you can check the details at www.siguecorrer.com. This event will be on June 24, 2012 in Venice Piassa Taguig City.
